Education: Fresno City College, UC Berkeley

Family: The Garabedians! Also my wonderful husband Jon and daughter Emilia.

What did you do before the Garabedian Group?

Before TGG, I worked for the Williams-Sonoma corporation as a General Manager of a high-volume Pottery Barn store.  Working in the greater Bay Area, I was exposed to corporate culture and interactions with the executives of the corporation.  I traveled all over the country as the team lead, opening new Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen locations in my later years with WSI.

What qualities does it take to work accounting firm and what can you tell me about the team that works with you? Accounting requires diligence, patience, a desire to gain knowledge and most importantly empathy to work with your clients.  We are often intimately involved in some very important events in our clients’ lives and treating their situation as you would your own is paramount to servicing our clients at the highest level.

What’s the most rewarding part of what you do? Interacting with our clients and making their lives better by doing what we do best, so they can focus on what they do best and what matters most to them.

What innovations in the accounting world are you most excited about? I love our ROWE work environment which gives me the capability to work whenever and wherever I want.  We have a great technology set up that allows me to have an office 200 miles away from our main office and still be completely connected to my colleagues and clients through the use of technology.

What do you feel you have accomplished and what would you still like to accomplish in life? I am ecstatic to be working with my family, to carry on a great tradition of service, caring and expertise begun by my father over 30 years ago.  I look forward to constantly growing the business and challenging the members of our team to always be looking for new ways to improve the quality of life of our clients, our team and our community.

What got you interested in becoming an accountant? I love that accounting is both precise and open to creativity.  By looking at our clients' situations with a creative perspective, we can stay compliant and achieve great results that yield a better quality of life for them.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it? My first job was as a sales person and gift wrapper at the Sierra Nut House in Fresno, California.  My greatest learning from the Sierra Nut House was great customer service, multitasking and of course, how to tie the perfect bow on a cellophane wrapped basket of dried fruits and nuts. A skill that still comes in handy to this day!

What are your roots in the San Joaquin Valley? I was born in Fresno and lived here until the age of 19 when I moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. I grew up on the northwest side of Fresno and attended Bullard High School and Fresno City College. I am currently looking forward to moving back to Fresno in the summer of 2018.

What do you do in your spare time? With a toddler, spare time is a luxury but when I do have some free time, I love to cook and do home improvement projects.
