Jennifer McGarry, CPA

Education: San Jose State University, Bachelor of Science, Business Administration Accountancy

What did you do before the Garabedian Group? Prior to joining TGG I spent the previous 14 years working in both public and private accounting.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it? I began my career as an accountant in 1996 working as a bookkeeper for a small family owned Consulting and Bookkeeping firm in Redwood City, CA.  This job provided me with a solid foundation and understanding of accounting at the transactional level.  This experience is what drove me to go back to school to earn my degree in Accounting and subsequently in obtaining my CPA license.

What qualities does it take to work at an accounting firm and what can you tell me about the team that works with you? We collaborate and work well together at our various diverse levels to achieve what we hope is an extraordinarily different result than that of a traditional firm.  We all have something unique to add to the equation.

What innovations in the accounting world are you most excited about? At TGG we continually strive to be the pioneers of our profession.  We look at things outside of the box.  The environment around us is constantly changing and shifting.    We often ask ourselves, "This is how it's been done for many years.  How can we reengineer this process to achieve a better outcome?"

What’s the most rewarding part of what you do? The most rewarding part of what I do is having the ability to help our clients understand and navigate the regulations and technicalities that are associated with either their tax return or financial statement.  My goal is to take that off of their plate with the intention of providing them with the time and energy to concentrate on growing their business and perusing their goals.

What are your roots in the San Joaquin Valley? My family and I relocated to the Central Valley in 2007. My husband and I were both raised in San Jose, CA.  We were attracted to the small town and close knit community environment in which to raise our daughters that the Central Valley provided.

What do you do in your spare time? My spare time is dedicated to spending time with my kids and volunteering for their various events.  When I'm not running around town taking the kids to their activities, I love to bake.  As a family we enjoy camping and hiking in the summer months and skiing in the winter.
